IPod Touch: Cost cutting equipment for the Army

The latest equipment that’s making its way in the U.S. Army is the IPod touch. It’s being used primarily as a translation tool. It also functions as an important communication tool that provides every soldier with intelligence information. Since the IPod was developed by Apple, a lot of savings was made from taxpayers since we didn’t have to pay anything in its development.

The need for a good translation device is needed in Afghanistan and Iraq where most of our soldiers are stationed. Due to the language barrier, communication was a major problem the solution? Instead of having a contractor come up with a device, the IPod touch was used instead.

Credit Cards

Why so many people complain about credit cards i don’t know. I personally use one and it is one of the greatest things in my life because I never have to keep cash on me and I never have to worry about theft of my wallet. One thing that I feel is stupid is the people who decide to take out cards to pay off another credit card balance, and the people who decide to get cards with annual fees. Why pay someone a annual fee for using your own money? The great thing about credit cards is that you are able to get money back on purchases, and you never have to buy insurance when you rent a car with them. Rock on credit cards, for those who are in debt… get out.

Recession impact on games

As it turns out the gaming industry is recession proof which should tell you where to put your money in times like these. Typically nothing is recession proof besides price inelastic goods like medication and water where the price can go up three thousand percent and demand would stay stagnant. As I stated above the game industry looks like it is able to withstand the drop in spending by consumers everywhere as opposed to other industries which are now crumbling. Don’t bet your money on it for too long is my thinking, like everything good in this world it inevitably goes away.

CD Ladders

CD Laddering which is Certificate of Deposit laddering allows you to divide your money and constantly recieve the highest yield that CDs are offering. A CD ladder can consist of a maximum of 10 Certificates spanning six months apart over the course of five years. The plan is to split all the money that you would put into a CD ten times and spread that over the CD terms. After each CD expires renew it as a five year CD and watch your money grow. Because your money is always receiving the highest rate you never have to worry about inflation and you will always have access to 1/10 of your money. Consider it, it’s a great way to make money risk free.

Technology

With economics technology plays a big part in supply. In economics the acronym ROTTEN represents all factors that are able to shift the supply curve of the supply and demand graph. The acronym ROTTEN stands for:

Resources
Other goods
Technology
Taxes / subsidies
Expectations
Number of sellers

I like to focus on technology because that is what is pushing the price down of many items that are being sold today like Jump drives. The flash memory industry is starting to lose money because so many competitors have entered the market because of low barriers to entry and therefor a price war is going on… a.k.a. dumping. Of course this is all part of the market and eventually a equilibrium price will be met and all will be balanced.

The art of money making

Filed Under (Money Making, Savings, Uncategorized) by ravi on 11-04-2009

In order for someone to make money they have to realise that one must be able to focus on their goal and let their goal lead them. I have had such success with money making because I have always allowed myself to be led by my goal regardless of where it may take me. Using a old forum I was able to make a steady two to three dollars a day for doing nothing, and the forum members greatly awarded me for the online space that they were granted to rant on. If you cater to your audience you will make money, and if you put in the hard work money will come to you. Remember half the battle is figuring out what to do, after that it’s easy just like eating cake.

Debt

Debt is owing money to someone else, and it usually carries interest along with. Like my post on inflation I don’t care for people in debt unless it’s debt that they couldn’t afford to take. Those who are in massive credit card because of the lame excuse of predatory lending should lose everything they own, afterall they did sign contracts saying that they would pay it back. I feel that whether they take your car, or all your money that’s what a debtor owes. Either way it’s the right thing, unless you think that you should be bailed out because you couldn’t resist tempation. Hahaha…. I laugh at your pain.

Thoughts on Inflation

As a Florida resident inflation isn’t to bad at 4 percent down from 5 percent. However I can’t help but feel bad because inflation is a man made problem and it’s a problem that shouldn’t exist. It always bugs me that the fed has continuously inflated the money supply year after year. Let’s not forget that we too are to blame for this problem by increasing charges per sale because of interest that has to go to credit card companies, and the fact that we spend without any hesitation. I would fell bad but I don’t beceause I took the time to save, and spend without fear.
